Sue and Chris Batstone from West Hill Farm Dairy were thrilled to receive two awards from HRH Prince Charles for their Fresh Chocolate Sauce at the Taste of the West award ceremony at Highgrove on the 16th September 2005.
Made with just pure, natural ingredients – Dark Organic chocolate from Green and Blacks with 60% cocoa solids, blended with fresh organic milk and cream from our herd. Getting the recipe and method right has taken our dedicated team a lot of testing and tasting!
Now you can enjoy the indulgence of a treat which actually does you good! Organic cream has high levels of Omega 3 – important for brain function and a strong immune system, and natural vitamins and minerals, while the dark chocolate contains Bioflavenoids - antioxidants which can combat stress and ageing, polyphenols which can lower blood pressure and decrease the risk of heart disease, and ‘mood lifting’ feel good hormones which combine with the energy boost. No wonder the Aztecs considered cocoa to be an aphrodisiac.
Nothing artifical has been used – no hydrogenated oils, no preservatives, stabilisers or chemical flavourings and all the raw ingredients are produced by fully certificated chemical free sustainable agriculture systems – so are guaranteed to be GM free and traded fairly without damaging the environment.
This delicious, versatile sauce has many uses – you could start the day with it on your porridge or toast, grab a quick energy boost snack mid morning on a plain biscuit, use it to make a luxurious milkshake to have with your lunch, at tea time it can be used to fill or top a sponge cake, and at suppertime it can be warmed then poured over desserts. Try on pancakes (over thinly sliced pears), profiteroles, fruit kebab skewers, or over vanilla ice cream with sliced bananas. At bedtime it makes a wonderful hot chocolate – and if there’s any left we’ve heard rumours of it being found in the bedroom! (for a midnight snack maybe…)
On sale now in 125ml pots, it freezes and thaws very obligingly so why not stock up with a few pots. Store it chilled, when it will be quite firm, but best served just cool or at room temperature. Can be warmed gently in a bowl of hot water, or heated in a microwave if the foil is removed.
